Little Athletics & COVID-19
Centenary Little Athletics is excited to be back operating in 2020 and looking forward to seeing our existing members and welcoming our new ones.
As everyone is aware 2020 has thrown up some challenging times, and we feel fortunate that we can operate safely during the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the requirements of our Covid Safe Plan we have to run through a few basic rules on how we will operate over our season.
As per the QLD Government's "Return to Play" guidelines and QLD Health regulations we are required to follow a Industry approved Covid Safe plan to operate. Little Athletics Queensland is operating under the "Outdoor Sports" plan.
There is quite a bit involved in this plan, however based on the current level of restrictions we will list a few simple keys points below so people are aware. However, if you need more information then please contact or talk to our Covid Safe Officer James Miller.
Stay at home if you're Sick
Please don't attend meets or training if you are feeling unwell, have any Covid-19 symptoms, or are waiting for results from a Covid-19 test.
Contact Tracing
It is a requirement that anyone attending our meets or training must register their contact details through EVA checkin, using the App on your phone, or by going to the website. QR codes will be available to scan with your phones on the night. There will also be a paper register for those unable to do it online. There is no requirement for the children that are participating to sign the contact tracing register on meet nights, just any Parents. However, for training a roll will be taken.
Social Distancing
There is a requirement that all spectators must maintain at least 1.5m between groups from different households. For people on the "Field of Play" this is not a requirement, however, it is recommended to maintain this where possible. The "Field of Play" includes all areas of the oval and events and also includes marshalling areas, toilets, etc. This means children competing and parents that have signed up to do a Parent Participation Role are considered to be in the Field of Play and can break the 1.5m rule where required. However if you are a just a Spectator, with no role then you are required to maintain the 1.5m rule at all times, even if you are walking around on the oval.
Committee members will be supervising social distancing and will remind people to spread out where required.
Equipment and Hand cleaning
All equipment will be cleaned as per our Covid Safe Plan, before and after meets and training. During events all marshalling boxes will have hand cleaning spray. We request that parents that are Age Marshals make sure all participants and recorders hands are cleaned before and after doing events where they are required to touch equipment. It is recommended that where possible only one parent is responsible for recording and holding the Age Marshalling box and folder.
Basically, follow the good Hand Hygiene rules that we are all well accustomed to by now.
There may be more updates and changes throughout the season, and we are lucky that the current restrictions will have little effect on how we normally operate. If everyone follows these basic rules, we hope that this will continue for the rest of the season.
In summary
- Stay at home if you are sick
- Register your contact details
- Social Distance where required
- Clean your hands regularly and in particular before and after touching equipment.
And most importantly have fun!
