Our Centre was started from humble beginnings in 1981. We originally ran our competitions on Saturday afternoons from the City Council Oval Wongaburra St. Jindalee followed by Saturday afternoons at Jindalee State School followed by Saturday afternoons at Jamboree Heights State Primary School before returning to the City Council Oval at Wongaburra St. to commence Friday night competitions in 1989.
In the 2010/11 season, our numbers dropped significantly because of the severe floods in Brisbane early in 2011. This forced us to stop operating in the latter part of the season and rebuild the club the next season due to extensive equipment damage. Despite these challenges, Centenary's registrations were renewed the following year, coinciding with an Olympic year.
Seasons following from this has seen the club grow and flourish despite the 2022 floods where we were lucky enough to not loose as much equipment. We welcomed new athletes and families, many of which are our own former athletes bringing their own children and introducing to them to the fun and excitement of athletics.
The Little Athletics motto is “Family, Fun and Fitness”; we encourage parents and care givers to become involved and help your children experience the joy and satisfaction of learning, being fit, training and competing with friends in our athletics environment.
Our aim is to develop children of all abilities by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through family and community involvement in athletic activity.
Over the years Centenary has produced many talented sports men and women and we look forward producing many more.
